Mining fleets

Hydrogen combustion enhancement for mining fleets.

Mining diesel runs hard, hot and long, and it burns fuel at a rate where small percentage changes are worth measuring properly. HydroHub PEM units fit haul trucks, water carts, dozers, loaders, drill rigs and site gensets without touching the ECU, the fuel system or the emissions hardware.

Short answer

Can hydrogen combustion enhancement be used on mining equipment?

Yes. A PEM unit generates hydrogen and oxygen on demand from deionised water and introduces it into the engine's intake path, so it fits mining diesel equipment as a bolt-on, fully reversible retrofit with no ECU calibration change. The HydroHub DH-Power covers 7.0 to 16.0 litre engines, the HydroHub H-Power covers up to 7.0 litres, and both run on the machine's own 12 or 24 V DC supply. Fuel-burn effects should be measured on your own duty cycle before a fleet rollout — we recommend a single-machine instrumented trial first.

  • Gas generated on demand, nothing stored on the machine
  • Non-invasive and reversible: no ECU, fuel-system or emissions changes
  • Deionised water plus a resin filter changed every 6–9 months

Operating environment

What this environment does to the hardware.

Dust and filtration

The cabinet is a sealed industrial enclosure. Dust management follows your existing engine-bay regime — air filtration and radiator cleanliness — rather than adding a separate schedule.

Vibration and shock

Heavy-duty units are vibration-isolated and mounted behind cab or on a machine deck plate. There is no free liquid electrolyte to slosh, because PEM cells run on deionised water through a solid membrane.

Ambient heat

Australian pit temperatures are part of the specification, not an exception to it. Mount clear of exhaust and turbo heat and keep the cooling path unobstructed as with any bay-mounted equipment.

Remote servicing

Consumables are deionised water and a resin filter every 6–9 months. Both are stock items that sit in the workshop store, which suits sites hundreds of kilometres from a dealer.

No stored gas

Gas is generated on demand and consumed immediately. There is no cylinder, no accumulator and nothing to decommission at end of life beyond the unit itself.

Reversibility for asset disposal

The retrofit is reversible. A machine can be returned to standard configuration before sale or handback, and the unit moved to another asset.

Trial protocol

Recommended trial sequence.

  1. 01Choose one representative machine per equipment class
  2. 02Log a baseline over a full, repeatable duty cycle including payload and route
  3. 03Fit one unit and record the installation against the asset number
  4. 04Run the same cycle and compare fuel burn per hour and per tonne-kilometre
  5. 05Record smoke opacity, combustion stability and operator-reported load response
  6. 06Only extend to further machines once the measured result meets your threshold

Reporting

How we report performance.

No projected, typical or expected fuel-saving figure is published. Actual results vary materially with engine condition, duty cycle, load profile, fuel quality, installation and operating conditions. A controlled field evaluation on your own equipment, with baseline data captured before installation, is required before any commercial projection.

These are combustion-enhancement devices. No emissions-compliance or fuel-saving guarantee is expressed or implied. Professional installation and controlled field evaluation are recommended.

Free worldwide delivery. Duties & taxes included on most destinations; where pre-payment isn't permitted, the carrier collects them on arrival. 12-month manufacturer warranty. See Shipping & duties by country for the exact arrangement for your destination.

FAQ

Questions.

Which HydroHub unit suits mining haul and ancillary equipment?

Displacement decides it. The HydroHub DH-Power covers engines from 7.0 to 16.0 litres, which is where most rigid haul trucks, large dozers and production loaders sit. The HydroHub H-Power covers up to 7.0 litres, which covers water carts, service trucks, graders, light vehicles on site and most portable gensets. Very large mining engines above 16 litres are handled as multi-unit installations quoted per application.

Is the unit suitable for a dusty site?

The heavy-duty cabinet is a sealed industrial enclosure and the gas is generated on demand from deionised water, so there is no stored gas and no open electrolyte bath to contaminate. Site dust affects the same things it already affects on your equipment — air intake filtration and radiator cleanliness — so we specify the same inspection interval as the rest of the engine bay rather than a separate one.

Does the system need site power or an inverter?

No. Units run on 12 or 24 V DC directly from the machine's own electrical system, so there is no inverter, no site reticulation and no separate supply to commission.

How does water supply work at a remote site?

The unit runs on deionised water and carries an onboard ion-exchange polisher; the replacement resin filter is a consumable changed every 6 to 9 months. Sites typically hold spare filters and a drum of deionised water in the workshop store, which is the same handling class as coolant.

Will fitting a unit affect the OEM engine warranty?

The installation is non-invasive and fully reversible: gas is introduced into the intake path and no ECU calibration, fuel-system component or emissions device is altered or removed. We recommend documenting the installation and notifying your OEM dealer, and we provide the installation record for that purpose. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are unaffected.

Can a mine site run a controlled trial before a fleet rollout?

That is the approach we recommend. Instrument one machine of a given class, log a baseline over a representative duty cycle, fit one unit, then compare fuel burn per operating hour, smoke opacity and combustion stability over the same cycle and payload profile before committing further units.
